Orion offers its proprietary homeowner insurance products to insurance agents in multiple states with plans to rapidly expand nationwide. Orion’s mission is to offer a suite of proprietary insurance products through both the agent and consumer channels via its best-in-class technology platform. To keep up with our rapid growth, we are seeking a professional to join our team.

Job Summary

The Business Analyst analyzes and communicates financial results for key products, markets, and initiatives, develops compelling storylines to help deepen client insights, and recommends creative actions to guide strategy and operations. This role formulates financial projections to support predicting and tracking performance and diagnosing potential issues.

Role and Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:

  • Prepare annual expense plan and periodic expense forecasts
  • Isolate key drivers, quantify impacts, and forecast implications to the business recognizing how different data points fit together
  • Prepare and help build a storyline for financial updates to senior leadership
  • Use analysis to influence and drive action within the business by using fact-based, holistic, and forward-looking perspectives to identify emerging issues and current trends, and assist in the implementation of strategies
  • Use data analytics to inform expense planning, forecasting, and budget analysis
  • Continuously develop and improve analytical processes to increase automation and improve accuracy
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize resources and produce results to solve problems or issues with minimal support
  • Accept responsibility for the outcome of his/her own efforts
  • Provide accurate, timely reports with financial insight to allow business partners to improve performance
  • Develop and lead effective presentations for small groups
  • Drive conversations with leadership to understand the business implications of current trends

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of (3) three years in a relevant field.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems.
  • Robust financial and analytical acumen with a strong foundation in financial modeling.
  • Competency in SQL, Power BI, and programming in R or Python.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to tackle problems comprehensively, from conceptualization to execution.
  • Data Proficiency: Knowledge of statistics, data analytics, and visualization techniques.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written skills, capable of collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Organization: Strong time management and the capability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Client Relations: Ability to build trust and manage relationships strategically.

Physical Demands

While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as a computer, printer, and phone. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office-type objects.

Work Environment

The office environment is generally quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
