Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Control
·Walking the warehouse and cold rooms throughout the course of the day, checking counts, and inspecting the overall quality of all inventory in the facility.This includes opening cases, checking receiving dates and ensuring proper case rotation of products.
·Work with the Inventory team to check reserve locations using stock picker equipment.
·Work with Sales and Buying departments to recommend disposition avenues of distressed products.
·Work closely with Buyers, QA, and Operations team to communicate needs and opportunities
·Participate in internal and external Quality audits.Assist with third-party and customer audits to obtain or maintain certifications.
·Report to upper management on quality issues and trends
·Work with the Food Safety Manager to ensure food safety compliance at all times.
Inventory Management
·Monitor physical inventory ensuring daily/weekly inventory schedule is being followed
·Record shortages, lack of movement, age, and visual quality of inventory
·Report physical inventory to the Buyers to update system accuracy
·Communicate concerns and opportunities to Sales and Buying Staff
·Manage expiration dating and product rotation
·Achieve target shrink goals
·Provide SKU rationalization recommendations
Supervise Repack Department
·Oversee the Repack department and ensure finished cartons are graded and repacked with quality product
·Partner with Sales and Buyers to determine which item(s) are deemed necessary for repack, the labor expense associated with such effort, and the expected volume and value of the recovered product.
·Maintain Repack Log listing item volume, shrinkage, and recovery.Update log and send to Buying Staff daily.
·Provide guidance and direction to staff, including scheduling, setting performance standards and monitoring and evaluating performance
·Train employees as needed on produce characteristics and quality
·Work with Food Safety Quality Manager and staff on FMSA, GMPs, and other programs.
·Make sure team members follow all time clock procedures
·Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
·Must be able to multitask
·Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
·Computer proficient, in Microsoft Excel, Word, Gmail
·Ability to learn Company systems such as Produce Pro
·Perishable food Inventory control, and rotation experience a must
·Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
·Energy to succeed in a fast-paced environment
·Understanding of food safety programs and good manufacturing practices.
·Managerial skills, team member supervision, progressive discipline implementation
·Proactive, independent, motivated, and detail-oriented manager.
Education and Experience:
·High school diploma or equivalent
·Previous experience as a Perishable food, preferably Produce Inventory Manager.
·5 years relevant experience in produce or other related distribution perishable goods service.
·Knowledge of inventory management in food distribution center, ideally in produce inventory management.
·Must have a valid Driver’s license & Insurance
Physical Requirements:
·Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
·Physically able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move/push/pull/lift items weighing from 50-75 lbs. safely and without difficulty.
·Able to work in temperatures of 0º-75º F.
Have a full range of body motion.
Required to be able to safely operate warehouse equipment, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and Stock Picker.
Pass a company pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test before commencing work.
Check Operations by walking an area of approximately 100,000 sq. ft
