- Operate company vehicles to transport materials and/or personnel in and around the Altoona, PA area. Load and/or unload vehicle as assigned.
- Load and unload trucks; check shipments received against invoice for accuracy and condition; inform supervisor of damage or missing items; place shipment in designated storage area. Assemble and install items as required.
- Check heating and ventilating equipment for proper operation; perform routine preventive maintenance following predetermined schedules; make minor adjustments and clean as required; replace filters, lubricate and oil, adjust or replace drive belts, replace worn or defective parts; read gauges and record; advise supervisor of condition of equipment.
- Perform ordinary carpentry work such as repairing floors, woodwork, doors, etc.; assist higher grade mechanic in performing such things as building partitions, cabinets, benches, installing paneling, vinyl/wallpaper hanging, etc.
- Perform ordinary electrical maintenance such as replacing wall receptacles and switches, fluorescent light ballasts, incandescent light fixtures, etc.
- Perform routine plumbing repairs to domestic water, sewer and heating systems, repair or replace items such as control valves, washers, faucets, flush valves, etc.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, crack filling, spackling, taping joints and applying plaster to cracks.
- Inspect, repair, recharge fire extinguishers; assist in testing and maintenance of fire alarms and emergency lighting systems.
- Maintain workshop and job areas in clean, neat and orderly condition. Protect surrounding property and furniture from damage while performing work.
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Must have a driver’s license
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must be able work independently and as part of a team
- Willing to work overtime as needed
- Previous experience is a plus, but not required
