Nursery and Postpartum Assistant

Summary:

Sanu, a postnatal retreat in northern Virginia, is looking for full time summer contract and per diem Nursery/ postpartum Assistants

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursery/ postpartum Assistants tojoin our team. The selected candidate will work closely with our postpartum doulas to provide high-quality childcare services in our nursery as well as assist our postpartum doulas with various tasks related to our postpartum mothers.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Postpartum Doulas:
• At the direction of our Postpartum Doulas assist with newborn care in the nursery, administrative tasks, sanitizing surfaces and stocking, assist with meal service to our parenting teams.
• Reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist with Nursery Care:
• Provide attentive and nurturing care to infants in the nursery.
• Attend to the basic needs of infants, including feeding, diaper changing, and comforting.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic environment within the nursery.
• Maintain Documentation:
• Keep accurate records of infant care activities and observations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protocols related to childcare documentation.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in childcare, nursery care, or related fields is preferred.
• Understanding of infant care techniques, including feeding, diapering, and soothing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children and adults.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine passion for supporting families during the postnatal period.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisory staff.
• Basic knowledge of child development and early childhood education principles is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of safe handling of breastmilk and bottle preparation
• Experience with newborns and/or infants preferred
• CPR certification preferred
