Job Summary and Qualifications

* This is a Full Time Night shift position, 7pm-7am, with rotating weekends *

Utilizing the standards set forth for Nursing Practice by the ANA, the RN will organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for adult and geriatric Medical/Surgical patients to include individualized, family centered, holistic, supportive, and safe care. This is a general Med Surg unit.

• Use therapeutic communication in daily practice
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment of care
• Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual patients
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process
• Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care

• Maintain high quality, age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned

• Delegate tasks appropriately

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required
• Associates Degree required, BSN required within 24 months of hire
• Current RN licensure by the State of TX required
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, BLS, required at hire either through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1-2 years recent MedSurg experience highly preferred
