DescriptionLarge food manufacturer in the Omaha, NE area is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee one of their largest US facilities. This person is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance and engineering teams within a large food manufacturing facility. This role oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of all plant equipment and infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. The Engineering Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage capital projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage capital projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee the maintenance of plant equipment and infrastructure to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to support production continuity.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to enhance operational performance.
- Utilize data and analytics to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture within the engineering team and the broader plant.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and maintenance technicians.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Provide technical expertise and support to production, quality, and other departments.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment manuals, SOPs, and maintenance records.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in engineering technology.
- Develop and manage the engineering department budget.
- Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the plant’s strategic plan.
- Align engineering initiatives with overall business goals and objectives.
- Participate in long-term planning for facility upgrades and expansions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field). A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of engineering experience in a food manufacturing or similar environment, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA).
- Proven experience in project management and leading capital projects.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
