Carmeuse is Hiring a Technical Training Specialist (Electrical, Maintenance, Heavy Equipment) Near Maysville, KY

Job DescriptionThe Training Specialist is responsible for training activities related to the frontline employees and supervisors at our North American plant and mine locations.
How You’ll Do It
  • The Training Specialist designs and conducts training programs to develop the skills and competencies of our employees. They assess annual training needs in partnership with our site locations and functional teams, develop curriculum, and deliver training sessions both in-person and virtually.
  • Develops, organizes, plans, and presents various trainings to include CAT equipment operation, electrical concepts, maintenance concepts and other training necessary for our plant operators’ skill development.
  • Partners with third parties for specialized training programs
  • Oversees the digital platforms and e-learning libraries used to support operator training
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, eLearning, and videos.
  • Monitors the apprentice program to ensure apprentices are keeping up on their classroom education on on-the-job training tasks.
  • Meets with apprentices and mentors to help with skill development and hands on learning and remove roadblocks that my be preventing them from progressing in their discipline.
  • Oversees the youth apprentice programs and other pipeline programs with the site HR Managers
  • Works with the site HR Managers to assess skilled trades gaps and recommend a way to build a pipeline such as a youth apprentice program or adding apprentices.
  • Develops and/or participates in curriculum development to prepare students for entry into apprenticeship programs. Works with instructors, training centers and industry partners to develop course objectives, course content guides and career pathways.
What You’ll Bring
  • Qualified candidates will have an Associates Degree
  • 5 years operations experience with a focus on heavy equipment, electricity, maintenance, or diesel mechanic.
  • Experience training others on technical concepts.
  • Positive and proactive attitude with ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as required within North America based on business need (travel will be more significant initially as program implementation and relationship building will be necessary)
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
