METHODIST FAMILY HEALTH is Hiring a Health Information Technician (HIM Tech) Near Maumelle, AR

Responsibilities:

Maintaining the accuracy for admitting and discharging patients from the electronic medical record Carelogic (CL).

Maintaining the accuracy of bed holds that occur during a patient stay which effect the patient accounts in CL.

Responsible for supplying requested information to the appropriate staff members and within the continuum facilities.

Coordinates the transfer of paper medical records from one location to another.

Coordinates and maintains the scanning and destruction of paper medical records by state and federal laws; via Professional Imaging Solutions or department.

Analyzes patient data by ensuring its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and privacy and security in both paper and electronic systems.

Analyzes requests for medical information, evaluates legality of releases, abstracts pertinent portions of medical records, copies, mails and/or releases in accordance with departmental policies to safeguard patient confidentiality.

Manages the notification of all staff members regarding deficiencies in the medical record.

Responsible for maintaining the completion of deficiencies, by the staff, by the approved deficiency date.

Manages audits of the medical records, electronic or paper, for QAPI or other requested audits from Director or HIM Manager.

Answer incoming calls for the facility in a professional manner.

Follows departmental procedures for archiving inactive paper records; pulls charts, prepares charts for CL.

Scan charts into CL in accordance with departmental policies.

Assist entire continuum with medical records, privacy, and request for records.

Assist in managing the Peer Review process for the Medical Staff.

Trains new employees, upon hire, for the Technology section and assists with other pertinent training for staff with Carelogic.

Assists the Technical Services department with help desk tickets regarding Carelogic, and other assigned duties.

Assist other Health Information Technicians with special duties.

Assist Health Information Manager and/or Director of Health Information Management Director with assigned special duties.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; prefer Register Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Prefer one to two years’ experience in the Health Information Management Department performing duties of Health Information Technician or Manager.

Duties include lifting and carrying stacks of medical records that may weigh twenty-five (25) pounds. Must be able to perform task, which require hand/eye coordination. Must be able to hear normal sounds with some background noises. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of times up to 3 hours.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated skills in computer operations, excellent organizational skills, analytical abilities, reasoning skills to effectively sole complex problems, excellent human relation skills.

Flu vaccination is mandatory and required for all positions (subject to qualified exemptions).
