Trailer Mechanic
SUMMARY: The Trailer Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on trailer units.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists in diagnosing and trouble shooting issues while effectively communicating with supervisor, teammates and drivers.
• Prepares and turns in paperwork while working with Inventory Clerk.
• Diagnoses and repairs medium to heavy-duty trailers, including preventative maintenance, inspections, air and hydraulic brakes, tires, warranty issues, driveline, steering, suspension and electrical.
• Performs preventative maintenance and general repairs to Company and DOT standards.
• Diagnoses and repairs trailer components such as doors, floors and side panels.
• Uses effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members and vendors.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Education and/or Experience High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) or post-secondary training in automotive repair
• Language Skills- Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
• Other Qualifications - Valid drivers license is required; must be able to work overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 60 percent of the time while operating the machine on the shop floor. They constantly operate motorized equipment and machines. The individual needs to occasionally move about on the shop floor to transport parts, access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the work order. The individual frequently positions self to operate and repair machines, including underneath and above the machine. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and shop. Must be able to detect mechanical issues and part defects from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken. They must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 60 pounds. The individual must be capable of transporting different parts and tools required to do the job.
