Manville School District is Hiring a School Counselor Near Manville, NJ
ANTICIPATED: School Counselor, Manville High School
Manville’s High School School, Grades 9-12, is seeking a School Counselor to join our team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting students and creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students in academic, career, and personal/social development
- Create and implement innovative counseling programs and intervention that address the needs of diverse student populations.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement initiatives that promote student achievement and well-being.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and stay current with best practices and trends in the field
- Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group counseling techniques, secondary school counseling program design
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, staff and community groups and organizations
- Knowledge of college and career planning preferred
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education
- Assists students in making course and subject selections, as well as with evaluating career interests and choices.
- Assists in the scheduling of classes.
- Obtains and disseminates information regarding occupational opportunities to students and to classes studying occupations.
- Assists students with admissions, scholarship and identifying employment opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid New Jersey School Counselor Endorsement or eligibility
- Master’s Degree
- Spanish speaking highly desired
- SAC certified a plus
