The teacher would be responsible for interventions and delivery of modified curriculum to students from a variety of grade levels.Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Masters Degree preferred) and teacher certification/licensure in special education is preferred. Work is performed under the supervision of the Principal. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning for students who require specially designed instruction.Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.Provide direct instruction to students as needed, either in small groups or one-on-one settings, to reinforce concepts and skills taught in the general education classroom.Ensure that IEP goals and accommodations are implemented effectively in the general education classrooms.Work closely with general education teachers to co-plan and co-teach lessons that incorporate best practices for inclusive education.Share strategies for differentiating instruction and managing diverse learning needs within the classroom.Use data to inform instructional decision-making and modify teaching approaches as needed to support student learning.Develop lesson plans and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures.Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.Provide appropriate feedback by encouraging and monitoring the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development, coordinating with the assistant principal for progress monitoring notes for individual students as needed.Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.Prepare required reports on students and activities.Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities according to IEP goals and objectives.Prepare the learning environment for class activities, including relevant and necessary accommodations.Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development.Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments for students who require specially designed instruction.
