Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Waterloo, Iowa

Salary: $75-95K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Design Engineer: The Design Engineer will work as an integral part of the Engineering team, collaborating with fellow design engineers to create mechanical products and systems that meet customer expectations. This role involves evaluating mechanical systems, conducting research, and applying principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials to ensure the feasibility and capabilities of the products. The Design Engineer will also be responsible for developing manufacturing processes, designing testing methods, and preparing detailed product reports.

Qualifications of Design Engineer:

• Plan and execute engineering projects according to customer requirements.
• Evaluate mechanical systems and products through research and application of principles.
• Create feasibility and testing procedures to validate system and product capabilities.
• Develop mechanical products based on customer specifications.
• Create and modify manufacturing processes for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Ensure system and product quality through the design of testing methods.
• Generate comprehensive product reports by collecting and analyzing information.
• Provide engineering information to address inquiries and requests.
• Comply with government regulations to maintain product and company reputation.
• Maintain system and product database through data entry and programming.

Responsibilities of the Design Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in heavy equipment engineering is a plus.
• New graduates to individuals with 5 years of experience are welcomed.
• Proficiency in advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel and Design software systems.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and recommend automation opportunities.
• Functional understanding of cost accounting.
• Ability to adapt and quickly learn new tools and systems.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
