Mammoth Hospital is Hiring an Associate Engineer Near Mammoth Lakes, CA

The associate engineer works closely with the Chief Engineer and Facilities Manager in support of plant operations. The incumbent performs skilled work in one or more of the maintenance trades as needed to ensure Mammoth Hospital facilities and equipment are fully operational; and to ensure completion of contracted projects within assigned facilities areas; and to perform a variety of other duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
What You'll Do
  • Coordinates the repair work of hospital structures and related facilities and equipment; work includes carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, glazing, welding, heating, and ventilating, locksmithing, and other trade areas.
  • Inspect District buildings and equipment for needed repair and maintenance work; responds to emergency site maintenance as required; confers with and advises other management personnel regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
  • Perform skilled work in one or more of the above maintenance trades areas; instructs and leads maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties and during major projects; inspect and evaluate work in progress or upon completion.
  • Estimate labor and material costs for replacement, repair, alterations, and improvements to building, building systems, and equipment; orders materials and supplies; tests, selects, and purchases maintenance supplies and equipment. Consults with architects and engineers; coordinates projects with District maintenance and site personnel and outside contractors, inspects work in progress and upon completion; oversees selected deferred maintenance projects; recommend value engineering. Prepare cost estimates for repayment (R.O.I.); schedules and oversees repairs; oversees preventive maintenance of District vehicle fleet.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of major facilities projects; develops drawings and specifications; requests and receives quotes for major work by outside contractors.
  • Maintain a variety of records and prepares reports; reviews reports on costs of work done, materials used, and labor expended.
  • Maintain adequate levels of tools, equipment, and other maintenance supplies.
  • Inspect and evaluate work in progress by maintenance project contractors, after work hours and on weekends; responds to emergency site maintenance after hours and on weekends.
  • Analyze and evaluate safety and security operations to proactively identify risks or opportunities for improvement. Conduct daily safety and security rounds.
  • Collaborate with both the Risk Manager and Director of Quality on all safety incident investigations and associated risks assessments focused on patient and staff safety.
  • Submit a regular written alternative life safety report to the Director of Quality, CEO, and Safety Committee. Review and update policies regarding Life Safety.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required or relevant experience in place of degree.
  • 5 years of plant management or engineering experience required.

Job Information
