City of Malibu is Hiring an Engineering Technician Near Malibu, CA
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of technical paraprofessional and support related activities in the Public Works Department; maintains project files and engineering records; conducts field surveys and minor inspections; prepares engineering related exhibits using specialized software and maintains related databases; receives and reviews a variety of City permits for completeness; researches engineering topics and prepares reports; performs engineering calculations; provides technical information to the public; and performs a variety of technical tasks related to an assigned area of responsibility. May be required to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Participates in an after-hours emergency response program for on-call and callback assignments. This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the community and be part of a dedicated team committed to excellence.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in permit review and processing, database management, interdepartmental coordination, and field inspections. The ideal candidate for the Engineering Technician position at the City of Malibu will possess the following qualities and attributes:

Minimum Qualifications Required
Equivalent to graduation from high school. College level coursework in engineering or a related field is desirable. Three (3) years of experience of previous experience in civil engineering, construction, or related industries. Experience in dealing with the public and working in a public agency setting is desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid California class C driver license and have a satisfactory driving record.
