The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring a Purchasing Officer (Purchasing Agent Program Supervisor). This position is located/based/headquartered at Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), in Madison, WI.
The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. Under the general supervision of the Budget Policy Manager, this position functions as the Agency Purchasing Supervisor responsible for the coordination of purchasing activities with the State of Wisconsin and performs a variety of technical duties involving the purchase of materials, supplies, services, and equipment. This position directly supervises purchasing staff, including those involved in completing bids, waivers and reviewing purchases made via purchase cards. This position provides professional purchasing support to all agency programs.
Additionally, this position serves as the DMA state capital projects manager for non-National Guard projects. This position is the agency’s primary consultant for the review of capital and construction needs and designs for the assigned projects.
Starting pay is between $40.50 and $43.46/hr. This position is in the 81/03 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required. Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan for current permanent state employees.

This position will be required to work primarily in person, with only occasional opportunities to telework.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to JFHQ in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
