As the Senior Center Group Exercise Instructor, under limited guidance from the Senior Center Director, will offer appropriate and safe exercise instructions in a group setting to help older adults maintain strength, flexibility, and range of motion. The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide high quality, safe and motivating exercise instruction based on class description.Provide modifications/adaptations based on individual needs.Maintain competencies and remain current in trends relative to older adult exercise classes.Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures. Regularly inspect equipment and report any safety or maintenance needs.Keep instructional area organized, clean, and inviting. Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment for all participants. Demonstrate awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity. Keep students up to date when there is a switch in instructors or an absence that will require a class(s) to be taught by video. Inform participants on the first day of a new month that class payments are due and direct them to activity envelopes or the Senior Center front desk.
