Position Details: Job Title: Lab Technician
Position Type: 6-month contract with high possibility of extension for right candidate contingent upon performance and continued business need
Job Location: Madison Heights, MI
Shift: 1st shift
Compensation: $20-25 per hour (based on experience)
The Application Engineering Technician will provide support to the Application Engineering manager for maintenance of the current product portfolio. The selected candidate will aid in the testing, assist in CCSM projects as well as conduct specification testing to extend portfolio for new opportunities. This role will also provide accurate data to create technical reports for our client’s internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
- Review and understand complex customer components and projects and give sound technical design and technology advice to customers, field sales representatives, and other Henkel personnel.
- Monthly reports of lab projects, activities, and issues are required.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratories. This includes maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, maintain a proper level of Henkel products and general laboratory supplies, ensure the facilities are properly functioning and making sure proper chemical labeling and storage practices are followed in the laboratories as required.
- Maintain neat and accurate records and reports of work performed on projects. Maintain appropriate records on technical information regarding Henkel products and processes.
Qualifications:
- BS Chemist or Chemical Engineering Degree preferred. Associate degree in a Scientific area is acceptable or a candidate who has taken college level chemistry and has a significant amount of laboratory experience.
- Ability to be able to lift 20 pounds and cut metal with foot and hand shear on a regular basis.
- A strong team player who will support both manufacturing and customer issues.
- The ability to run and maintain lab equipment which is required to test and troubleshoot quality concerns with associated materials.
- The ability to think and work under minimal supervision is essential.
- A working knowledge of computer software for word processing, graphics and spread sheets is required.
