Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records to identify appropriate codes for billing purposes.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of medical records to ensure appropriate coding.
- Communicate with medical staff to clarify medical procedures and diagnoses to ensure accuracy of coding.
- Enter data into computer systems for billing purposes.
- Research and stay up-to-date on coding rules and regulations.
- Liaise with insurance companies to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Provide training and guidance to other employees on coding and billing procedures
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
- Minimum two years of experience in medical coding
- Knowledge of coding rules and regulations, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to read and interpret medical records
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals.
