About Village Ace Hardware and Pharmacy
New Middletown's Ace Hardware and Village Pharmacy is locally owned and operated. We are located in the heart of New Middletown.

General Summary
We are seeking a helpful hardware associate for 24-30 hours per week, with the opportunity to gain additional shifts, to assist our customers with their knowledge and expertise. The primary purpose of our floor personnel is to provide great service and help our customers find everything they need to complete their projects. Candidates should possess some knowledge of the products we carry and will be required to complete further training in a variety of areas such as paint, outdoor power equipment, electrical and plumbing. Our associates' secondary purpose is to keep our store looking great by keeping inventory stocked, set up and tear down of displays, and performing light cleaning and maintenance. Our employees are required to work some evenings and some weekends and should have flexible availability. This would be the perfect fit for a semi-retired person or college student.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Service:
• Provide a positive representation of Village Ace Hardware and Pharmacy.
• Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
• Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
• Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.

Store Operations
• Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
• Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
• Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area.
• Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
• Assist with merchandise resets through the store.
• Provide assistance to Department Specialists, i.e. price changes, special orders.
• Ensure signage is current throughout the store.
• Operate forklift with proper training.
• Communicate any Store Support Center issue to General Manager for follow up.
• Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to General Manager.
• Participate in store meetings.
• Be professional in appearance and actions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

General hardware knowledge is a must. Specific areas of expertise in a field such as electrical, paint, plumbing, or small engine repair a plus! Forklift operating experience preferred, will train the right candidate.

Education/Training
High School or GED equivalent.

Physical Demands
Standing, walking, lifting and carrying (up to 50lbs). This job will keep you on your toes and applicants will need to be able to keep up!
