Title: Clinician Mental Health - School Based

Location: Lynchburg, Virginia and Amherst, VA

Status: Full-Time - 37.5 hours/week, Part-Time - 29 hours/week

Pay: 42,124 - $72,584

Bonus: $5,000 signing bonus

***This organization is part of the Community Services Board (CSB), which supports public behavioral healthcare in Virginia.***

Summary:

The position is for Licensed or Licensed eligible Clinician to provide School-Based Outpatient mental health and substance use therapy to students in the public school system with the opportunity to also provide services in a clinical setting. The therapist will oversee referrals, complete intakes as needed, and work closely with the case manager, school personnel, and guardians. Weekly supervision toward licensure, opportunities for training in evidence-based practices, and ability to work with a diverse population included.

Required Education and Experience for Clinician – LMHP-E; Resident in Counseling

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling for clinical supervision working toward licensure.
  • One year experience working with identified population served preferred. Eligible to register as an LMHP-E with the VA Board of Counseling within three months of hire.

Required Education and Experience for Clinician – LMHP; LPC, LMFT, LSCW

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and licensure in the State of Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
  • One year of program-specific work experience or relevant education, which indicates the individual possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices to include but not limited to; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc.;
  • Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources;
  • Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
  • Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required
  • Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations.
  • Regular attendance at training and meetings may require travel to a variety of sites;
  • Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
