SUMMARY:

The Chief Engineer plans and schedules all maintenance activities for assigned property. Forecasts needs and budgetary requirements through regular inspection and ensures preventative maintenance is performed to control cost. Monitors equipment and ensures efficiency and effectiveness. May repair or perform service in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and machine and electrical equipment. Manages Maintenance Technician team and makes day-to-day decisions regarding Maintenance staff. Participates in the MOD (Manager on Duty) program, which entails occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Essential Functions:

• Plans and schedules all maintenance activities for assigned properties.
• Forecasts needs and budgetary requirements through regular inspection.
• Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on a regular schedule.
• Ensures adequate staffing of department; is responsible for management and day-to-day decisions regarding Maintenance staff.
• Repairs or performs services including areas of plumbing, painting, plastering, machine/electrical.
• Manages relationships with external vendors of equipment or supplies.
• Works cross-departmentally to ensure the best quality experience for guests.
• May interact with guests to address problems as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility: Maintenance Technicians

Qualifications and Skills:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Bachelors’ or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience in general repair and maintenance of HVAC and other mechanical equipment; knowledge of general maintenance skills: eg: carpentry, painting; pool certification desired.
• Proven track record of dependability and reliability.

Work Environment: This role requires work both indoors and outdoors, may require work in confined spaces and in potentially hazardous conditions such as working on electrical equipment.
