Job Description

We seek an experienced VP of Operations to oversee our manufacturing and distribution facility in Lake County, CA. The VP of Operations should have a full working knowledge of cannabis from processing, solventless manufacturing, and distribution. The VP of Operations will oversee and manage the company's daily activities.

We are seeking a candidate with a solid record of accomplishment as a VP of Operations. This individual should be proficient in software implementation and effectively scaling businesses from the ground up. An ideal candidate would be someone with a mind for a business who can manage and build multiple departments while maximizing productivity. The candidate should be a team player who is highly skilled in operations, software implementation, human resources, and finance. Candidate should have acute attention to detail across all aspects of the business. Candidates should be able to develop and maintain an environment where employees feel motivated and supported. As a start-up, the VP of Operations will be expected to wear many hats and build out various departments while maintaining the opportunity to grow with the company. To excel, the VP of Operations should have full control over the organization's processes. As an upper management official, the VP of Operations will delegate all tasks to managers while reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Objectives of this Role

  • Identify new revenue opportunities
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Department Directors to ensure proper operations of the organization are either met or exceeded
  • Maintain construction schedules during facility buildout
  • Communicate with contractors and directors to ensure work is being done in accordance with the facility's plans
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and compliance protocols
  • Development of all SOPS and safety procedures in accordance with the companies' operational needs
  • Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization's internal capacity
  • Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives
  • Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget
  • Track staffing requirements and hire new employees as needed
  • Use various forms of software to streamline productivity and create transparency
  • Defining, implementing, revising, and improving operational policies and guidelines for the organization
  • Liaising with departmental heads to develop financial plans and ensure company-wide operational compliance
  • Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization's internal capacity
  • Developing and executing new growth directives
  • Manage and increase the Company's revenue and gross profits by minimizing our cost of goods
  • Working with the human resources department
  • Overseeing client support services
  • Managing procurement and resource allocation
  • Develop and implement staff evaluation parameters
  • Work with the sales team to ensure orders are completed on time and free of issues

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment; including setting and implementing career development plans for all direct reports while providing conflict-resolution strategies
  • Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service
  • Partner with cross-functional support teams to improve proprietary tools and systems
  • Work closely with the inventory and sales departments to ensure all activities remain compliant
  • Oversee materials and inventory management
  • Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to the accounting department and CEO
  • Review high-level contracts and provide comprehensive insight
  • Cross-reference all contracts with work completed and invoices for continuity
  • Digitize all reports while maintaining structured file systems

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in operations management or business administration or related field and/or 5 years' experience as a VP of Operations or equivalent position
  • Strong budget development and oversight skills
  • Excellent ability to delegate while maintaining organizational control of operations and customer service
  • Set up KPI's and ensure they are cascading to employee reports
  • Highly trained in conflict resolution and business negotiation processes
  • Proficient knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). A proficiency test will be required prior to onboarding
  • 40 WPM (typing test required)
  • Willingness to travel: For conferences and industry events
  • Clean driving record with current driver's license and reliable transportation
  • While some software training, may be provided we are looking for a candidate with strong software systems integration and implementation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Sage accounting software
  • Working knowledge of Backbone ERP software
  • Experience in financial and account reporting
  • Management history of 30 employee companies

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year (based on experience)

Schedule: In office Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Job Type: Full-time
