Job Purpose and Overview

Leads, develops, and implements the plant continuous improvement strategy and initiatives to drive cost reduction, eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, reduce product defects, and increase market share using lean methodology and tools.


Shift Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am-5pm must be flexible and work some weekends when necessary


What will you do as a Continuous Improvement Specialist at Dawn Foods?

  • Develop, manage, and facilitate the Continuous Improvement initiatives and strategy for the plant.
  • Lead the rollout of automated data collection and loss analysis to help the plant identify top losses and eliminate waste.
  • Act as a Lean transformation leader and Kaizen coach that can provide in-depth knowledge of rapid improvement methodologies with tools acquired through hands-on implementation.
  • Organize and facilitate cross-functions ideations and value-stream mapping workshops.
  • Support daily directions setting tier meetings and floor huddles.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture with a focus on prioritizing top opportunities and using DMAIC problem solving to eliminate issues permanently.
  • Ability to coach and train team members, supervisors, and management.
  • Ensure sustainability of past CI projects and focus on standardization and adoption of improved processes.
  • Manage cost savings process for the plant and help keep other project owners on-track.
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for long-term, sustainable cost reduction initiatives, including investments in tools and infrastructure that provide automated reporting and/or supplier collaboration.
  • Leverages lean skills, tools, and best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and methods to improve.
  • Understands and promotes the philosophies and policies of Dawn Food Products, Inc. Supports the Circle of Excellence, and the Dawn Philosophy of Team Dawn.


What Does It Take to be a Continuous Improvement Specialist at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, process management, operations, industrial engineering, or engineering management or equivalent experience. Master’s preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, logistics, distribution, warehousing, and/or engineering or other related supply chain field with at least 2 years owning continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Relevant experience in the manufacturing of food and/or bakery products is preferred.
  • Requires excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Requires analytical problem-solving skills, time management skills, and advanced skills in the use of data management tools to monitor progress toward goals.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to lead change.
  • Strong ability to influence others without direct authority to seek and gain leadership alignment and activate resources to deliver to project commitments.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus on computer and non-computer tasks

Compensation: $74,590-$116,360 with Annual Bonus Potential
