JOB TITLE: Truck Driver (Yard Jockey)
DEPARTMENT: General Warehouse
PAY STATUS: Hourly
REPORTS TO: Inventory Analyst
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
a leader in home furnishings, is an aggressive distribution facility in Loris, SC. Employees must possess the ability to walk/stand for long periods of time, lift 40 lbs, and carry, push, and pull products of heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
WORKPLACE FLEXIBILITY:
In order to remain competitive and meet customer demands in our business, it is essential to cross-train our warehouse employees. There are times when the workload will not be balanced and require less help in one area and additional help in another. Having a well-balanced workforce is essential for productivity, flexibility, and revenue. Overtime will be scheduled and mandatory for employees as needed to meet customer demands.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate Jockey Truck within the yard and occasionally short distances over the road.
1. Pull containers and trailers from the dock door.
2. Inspect for damage or unsafe conditions. Report any unsafe conditions.
3. Pull containers and trailers to the dock door.
4. Maintain Yard in an organized manner.
5. Communicate with both shipping and receiving docks to be advised of the required movement of containers and trailers.
Job Requirements
1. CDL License
2. Previous work experience driving trucks over the road or as a yard jockey.
3. Good hand and eye coordination as well as good motor skills.
4. Able to pass DOT physical
Physical Requirements
1. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
2. Must be able to climb in and out of the yard jockey cab.
3. Must be able to extend arms above shoulder level and exert pressure to open container and trailer doors.
4. Must be able to bend down to place wheel chocks in place.
5. Must be able to turn hand crank when lowering or raising front feet under trailer or container.
6. Must have good vision for near and far.
