Port Dispatcher - Long Beach - must have Port/Drayage experience
Cargomatic is seeking an experienced Port Dispatcher to join our growing team in Long Beach! As a Port Dispatcher, you’ll be responsible for high-volume scheduling, dispatching, and resolving problems for our owner operators and third-party drivers and carriers. This position requires you to have exceptional communication skills, proactive customer service skills, and the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Schedule and dispatch owner operators and third-party drivers and carriers hauling under Cargomatic's SCAC code (high-volume)
- Plan routes to ensure that pick-ups and deliveries are completed efficiently and on schedule
- Build strong relationships with Cargomatic's owner operators and carriers
- Assess driver and vehicle capability for each requested haul
- Tracking and tracing of shipments
- Problem solve and communicate any issues, delays, or concerns with shipments
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting and data entry
- Provide exceptional customer service to carriers and internal/external customers
- Navigate Cargomatic’s proprietary software to manage daily operations and loads
- Operational/administrative responsibilities as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 2 years of Port/Drayage Dispatcher experience required
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and work with urgency
- Possess strong knowledge of logistical concepts, supply chain terminology, and dispatch best practices
- Ability to analyze complex situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
- Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to overcome objections
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily tasks
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
