Title: Phlebotomist
Location: (Childrens Millers) Long Beach, CA.
Department: Lab Triage
Status: Per Diem
Shift: Evening (8 Hours)
Pay Rate: $26/hr

Position Summary:
Essential Function and Responsibilities of the Job
Communicate effectively and courteously. Address customers using eye contact in a polite, expedient, and helpful tone of voice. Continually update knowledge to provide current and accurate information to those requesting assistance.
Address and calm potentially tense situations. Make informed and educated decisions with little notice and minimal supervisor involvement.
Act in a responsible and trustworthy manner at all times. Take responsibility when supervision is not available.
Identify chain of command and utilize resources effectively by researching and resolving problems, situations and challenges routinely encountered during the work shift.Be at work and be on time. Follow company policies, procedures and directives. Interact in a positive and constructive manner. Prioritize and multitask.
Ensures that equipment and safety devices are used appropriately following set guidelines.Performs venipuncture, heel stick and finger stick specimen collection activities from pediatrics, neonatal, and adult population following appropriate procedure and protocol for health assessment.

Education/License/Certification
Must be able to work every other weekend
High School graduate or equivalent preferred
Current certification as a Phlebotomist Technician by the State of California
2 years of previous experience performing venipuncture on hospital based patient populations is preferred.
Knowledge of specimen collection techniques, equipment and specimen handling is required
