About the role In order to help Cochlear continue to grow and service our customers, we are recruiting for a Privacy Manager in our Americas head office based in Lone Tree, CO. This role offers a flexible hybrid work environment with a combination of in-office and remote work from home. Data privacy and security are critical areas for any business, particularly for a regulated medical device company like Cochlear. The global climate around data privacy and security is constantly evolving, especially in the healthcare industry. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that data and information are protected from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. This role also ensures that the organization follows established processes and procedures to comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Cochlear’s Privacy Manager contributes to business outcomes by: Assessing and proposing mitigation tactics to reduce the risk of data breaches, fines, lawsuits, and reputational damage that could result from privacy violations or incidents. Enhancing customer trust and loyalty by demonstrating respect for their privacy rights and preferences. Supporting innovation and growth by enabling the organization to leverage data and information in a responsible and ethical manner. Providing guidance and expertise on privacy best practices and emerging trends to help the organization stay ahead of the curve and adapt to changing customer expectations and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Maintain and improve Cochlear’s privacy program in North America with regular reports to business stakeholders and Cochlear’s Global Privacy Office in Sydney, Australia Train employees on privacy-related topics with a passion for continuous improvement Act as first point-of-contact for North American privacy-related questions Conduct privacy assessments for systems, vendors and activities processing personal information Using tools such as OneTrust, Xakia, Insight, and Confluence Support data incident assessment and response and data breach notification procedures Work closely with business stakeholders to navigate privacy and data protection assessments and risk mitigation, including identifying and facilitating incorporation of privacy by design principles into strategic initiatives and projects Leading the ongoing development, implementation, and maintenance of internal policies and procedures that protect personal information and ensure that appropriate information security and privacy practices are established for collecting, processing, storing, disclosing, and destroying personal information. Monitoring and ensuring personnel and third-party compliance with information privacy requirements, as well as contractual obligations. Work alongside affiliated subsidiaries as a member of the Cochlear Global Privacy Champion Network to develop and implement strategies to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the privacy office global function Key Requirements To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to meet and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities in your application and at interview: Bachelors or Equivalent Work Experience 5-7 years of experience including at least 3 years of experience managing data privacy in a regulated sector or industry Certification in privacy program management (CIPM), U.S. private-sector certification (CIPP/US) or comparable jurisdiction (CIPP/C/E/A) Certification in artificial intelligence governance (AIGP) is preferred Salary and Benefits In addition to the opportunity to develop your knowledge and grow professionally, we offer competitive wages and benefits. Target Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 per year base salary, based upon experience, as well as an annual bonus opportunity of 15% of base salary. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
