Al's Sporting Goods is Hiring a Buyer (Fishing/Tackle) Near Logan, UT

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our Fishing Buying team! The Fishing Buying team works with top-of-the-line vendors and brands to keep the company stocked with the industry's best products and gear. In addition to using your own personal experience and expertise, you'll research and stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the industry to provide the best product selection for our customers. You'll use data and records to analyze buying patterns, predict future projections, and place orders. Not only will you be working with the top brands, but you'll also have access to employee-only discounts and exclusive vendor discounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and plan for pre-season orders
  • Develop marketing plans for your orders at least 60 days before the ship date
  • Complete all necessary paperwork on time
  • Work with Category Managers to review each brand annually
  • Form and develop relationships with brand representatives
  • Write Fill In Orders We on a weekly basis
  • Submit MAP information to maintain product accuracy
  • Monitor orders and processes to proactively prevent problems and quickly solve them as they arise
  • Monitor Sales through each sale period and add to the promo sheet as necessary
  • Periodically visit all retail store locations
  • Provide up-to-date Pro-Form information for ALSCAP

Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of both fly and conventional fishing practices for species found in Utah, Idaho, and Montana
  • Punctuality and ability to meet hard deadlines
  • Proactive and creative mindset
  • Flexible and adaptable to quick changes
  • Basic understanding of math and statistics
  • Able to develop and foster interpersonal professional relationships
  • Decisive and confident when making decisions
  • Organized and detailed
  • Team-oriented and collaborative work ethic

Full-Time, 40 hrs/week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
