Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is hiring caring and dependable Personal Care Aides. Full-time and part-time, year-round positions are typically available, on all shifts.

Personal Care Aides must be at least age 18, with a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Newly-hired Personal Care Aides are eligible for competitive pay rates and generous shift differentials ($3.00 extra per hour on the evening shift, $2.00 extra per hour on the night shift, plus $1.00 extra per hour on weekends).

Personal Care Aides receive an additional $1.00 per hour if they become Certified Med. Techs. during employment. We provide on-site training!

Personal Care Aides serve as an integral part of a care team, providing assistance to our older adult Residents with activities of daily living and working cooperatively with LPN's and RN's. Brethren Village PCA's have the opportunity to establish caring relationships with our Residents.

Personal Care Aide positions are great for those who want experience in a healthcare setting and will enjoy working with an older adult population, including individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairment. No prior experience is required; we will provide paid training.

Typical Work Schedules:

  • Full-time, benefits-eligible, 37.5 hours per week, year-round: opportunities are typically available on all shifts; work days will vary a bit from week to week, and typically include every other weekend and holiday
  • Part-time: flexible part-time schedules are typically available on all shifts
  • PRN (scheduled as-needed): flexible PRN schedules are typically available on all shifts

Core Requirements:

  • a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use software, apps, and databases independently
  • the ability to complete online training independently
  • dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
  • attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
  • commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect

Additional Requirements for this Position:

  • at least age 18
  • current CPR and First Aid certification
  • experience or comfort working with Residents with memory loss, dementia, or other cognitive impairment
  • effective verbal and written communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively with Residents and co-workers
  • willingness to provide assistance to Residents with their dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, and bathroom needs, and respond to their requests in a timely manner
  • the ability to safely transfer Residents, properly using mechanical lifts when necessary; to safely push adult Residents in wheel chairs; to safely assist Residents who may begin to fall
  • the ability to quickly and safely assist Residents during emergency evacuations and other emergency situations
  • the ability to remain calm and provide effective care in a fast-paced environment
  • understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations
  • ability and willingness to work every other weekend and holiday
