Job Description

TITLE: Maintenance Manager/Supervisor

LOCATION: Lindon, UT

STATUS: Full-time Exempt

DEPARTMENT:

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. Effectively implement and support a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with a focus on decreasing production downtime. Analyze problems and interpret technical information necessary to make required repairs (troubleshooting of equipment issues). Complete all assigned work orders within the time allotted. Keep good records of all work assignments and communicate across all groups/departments. Able to identify required parts, current inventories, and to list parts required for reorder. Must abide by all company policies including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Personal Safety Standards and Food Safety Standards. The person will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on food production machinery. Duties will also include maintenance of the building and support equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Diagnose malfunctions in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Direct and coordinate assembly, fabrication, and installation activities to ensure equipment and systems conform to engineering design and internal specifications and standards.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions or to improve safety, quality, or equipment operating parameters.
  • Research and costs project proposals to determine feasibility, payback, and equipment design.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Confer with the Director of Operations to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
  • Plan and schedule corrective work to maximize crew utilization and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate outside service requests, establish purchase orders, ensure purchase orders are closed and manage expenses within budget requirements.
  • Use computers and associated software programs such as Word and Excel to plan maintenance activities and develop training documents.
  • Track metrics, performance, and efficiency of work scheduled using spreadsheets and graphs as well as documents in report format, PowerPoint slides, and on bulletin boards.
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals, service manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proactively work with Director of Operations to ensure predictive and preventative plans are uniform on like equipment.
  • Manage predictive and preventive maintenance for an area of production equipment and schedule required corrective actions.
  • Ensure production areas are maintained to current GMP standards.
  • Maintains equipment repair records in compliance with company policy.
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance personnel who maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and other building systems.
  • Oversee projects assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Respond to calls from production immediately and answer emergency calls when off shift

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through on the job training or experience.
  • 2-5 years maintenance supervision and planning experience in a food processing and packaging manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in the food processing/manufacturing industry
  • Ability to build and use maintenance library for repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering documents, drawings, schematics.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Result-driven, problem-solving mind-set with basic experience of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting demands and to prioritize accordingly.
  • Project management skills are a plus.
  • Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Previous HVAC and refrigeration experience
  • Good mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Self-motivated, driven, honest and dependable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, and other related software
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This job operates in a production and office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be asked to participate in work that may sometimes be exposed to odors, fumes, dust, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Certain products handled by the company contain Milk, Peanut, and Coconut allergens.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday – Friday: 8am-5pm
  • Overtime required at times
  • Off-shift, weekend and Holiday work may be required.
