Medical Scribe Position

General Summary of Duties:

Works to facilitate patient flow and ensure an accurate and complete medical record for each patient.

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

• Accompany physician into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physicians encounter with the patient and others present.
• List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
• Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
• Document any procedures performed by the physician.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Adhere to employer work practices.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
• Document work process and required.
• Requires working on Saturdays based on rotation schedule.
• Attends regular staff meetings as required.
• Conducts self in accordance with Med First's employee handbook.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years' experience as a Medical Scribe, Experience with Microsoft Word and other computer programs., Medical Terminology, ICD-9 and CPT Coding helpful. Must be organized and detail oriented. Self-directed and able to work under limited supervision.

Work Environment: This position operates in a clinic. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment. Work may be stressful at times due to busy office. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. This position requires unaided lifting up to 20 pounds, excessive standing and hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation.
