Our highly-experienced management team has a winning track record and extensive knowledge in the outpatient healthcare services sector – and we are actively looking for Preop/PACU Nurses to join us in our pursuit of excellence. Our Lee's Summit ambulatory surgery center opened in 2020 and is a state-of-the-art facility with 5 Operating Rooms specializing in outpatient Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, and Pain Management.

Education/Certification:

  • Graduated from an accredited Nursing Program
  • Current RN license in the State of Missouri
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification (required after employment, if not currently certified)

Experience:

Preop and PACU Department experience is required. Professionalism, self-motivated, flexibility, clear and concise communication, honesty, willingness to serve, and strong organization skills are critical. Must possess strong patient assessment skills and have the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Ability to work well with physicians, patients, and peers is key.

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing nursing care to the patient during all phases of their stay to include Preoperative and Postoperative care. Serves as the patients and patient’s family advocate. The RN consistently applies and utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients. The RN collaborates with the clinical team to achieve quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assures that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times. Integrates the mission, vision, and values of Beacon Surgery Center into daily interactions with the population served.
  • Follows State Nursing practice guidelines and facility policies and procedures
  • Prior to day of surgery, contacts all patients to review their medical history and provides education regarding their upcoming procedure
  • On day of surgery, prepares the patient for their procedure, including VS, IV starts, laboratory testing, and conducts overall preoperative clinical assessments
  • Recovers the patient from all types of anesthesia - Local, MAC, and General Anesthesia
  • Provides patient education through all phases of the patient experience at the center
  • Coordinates patient care activities with medical staff and clinical team to provide continuity of care
  • Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure
  • Accurately assess and interpret patient data
  • Makes accurate, complete and timely entries into the patient medical record addressing all steps of the nursing process
  • Recognizes and report errors or unusual activities and initiate corrective action when appropriate
  • Performs required narcotic counts to ensure inventory is reconciled against Medical Record and Narcotic Log
  • Educates the patient and family members regarding discharge instructions and what to expect before and after surgery
  • Ensure that the proper supplies and equipment are available in the Preop and PACU departments
  • Maintains professional competence through continuing education
