Position Description: Formulator is responsible for new product development of nutritional supplement products, review of clinical research for active ingredient selection, preparing specifications, records, reports as it relates. This position will establish, evaluate and improve product formulas, identify new product opportunities, and evaluate new and alternate raw materials.
Essential responsibilities:
· Designing custom formulas for current and potential customers based off current studies and research.
· Technical transfer of customers’ existing products, including reviews of formula and proposing cost savings and technical improvements where possible.
· Adjusting and enhancing current formulas based on cost and new studies.
· Assisting the Sales Representatives and Account Management in customer meetings.
· Setting up quotes for the Sales Representatives.
· Setting and reviewing finished good specifications.
· Establish/maintain outside contacts for information exchange regarding materials, dosage forms, theories and developments.
· Prepare benchtop samples of various formats to support customer growth project, including generation of technical documents as needed.
· Perform other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and company objectives.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Work according to safety and quality regulations/guidelines. (SOP’s)
· Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
· Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Nutrition, Food Science or relevant scientific discipline with a preferred 2 years or more of industrial experience in formulation, drug product development, or registration of therapeutic products.
Competencies/ Skill Qualifications:
· Knowledge of pharmaceutical/nutritional supplement technology and pharmacy, chemistry and/or chemical engineering.
· Knowledge of development and manufacturing procedures.
· Knowledge of cGMPs and other regulatory requirements governing nutritional supplement manufacturing.
· Knowledge of and experience in benchtop sample creation and best practices.
· Effective communication and analysis skills.
· PC proficiency using Microsoft Office suite software.
· English proficiency required.
Physical Requirements:
· Stand, walk, sit, balance, stoop or crouch, kneel, reach, push, grasp, feel, converse, and listen.
· Have clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships, bring object into sharp focus and see up and down or to the right or left while fixed on a point. Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
· Exert an amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
