Equipment Operator

General Info

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Lawrenceville Campus, Georgia, 30045

Requirements:

  • Georgia Pesticide Applicator's License (Preferred)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial CDL Class B Driver's License

Min Years Experience: 3-5 years of commercial/industrial

Hours: Monday to Friday: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (8-hr shifts)

  • Shift Differential: 4% (2nd shift) or 6% (3rd shift) differential pay only if the majority of hours worked fall within the shift differential window

Pay: $26.28 per hour plus fringe benefit of $10.01/hr. ($7.51 H&W/$2.50 401(k) contribution)

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the Grounds Maintenance of the Lawrenceville CDC Campuses. Must oversee and work to maintain the grounds of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, pastures, woods and repairs structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers, tractors, trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools, prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide. Job duties also include the following: planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, remove paper or other litter; removing snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using shovel and snow blower, spreads salt on walkways and other areas, repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings. Must have a clean driving record

Guidelines and Tasks

  • Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers;
  • Trim hedges and edge around walks, flower beds, driveways, wells, etc. using hedge trimmers, clippers, chain saws, and edging tools;
  • Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools;
  • Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide;
  • Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs;
  • Water lawns and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler systems;
  • Picks up and carts away leaves, paper, or other litter;
  • Removes snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots using shovels, snow blower
  • Spreads salt or equivalent on walkways, driveways, and parking lots;
  • Repairs and paints fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings
  • Assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment;
  • Cleans comfort stations, workshop areas, parking lots, etc. of all debris by sweeping, washing, mopping, polishing, etc.
  • Maintain written and electronic records, document actions and present written progress reports
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment;
  • Performs and directs work and/or duties as directed in areas other than Grounds.
  • Bush hog pastures
  • Operate dump trucks, tractors, skid steers, backhoes and mowers

  • Must be authorized to work in the US

  • Must be able to use ladders (step, extension, straight, etc.)
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, etc. for planting, working on equipment, snow removal, etc.
  • Must be capable of lifting more than 80 pounds
