Nectagen is seeking a Research Scientist to develop novel next generation antibody technology with diverse applications in affinity chromatography and diagnostics, as well as potential therapeutic development. Nectagen is a privately held biotech company, located at the Bioscience and Technology Business Incubator in Lawrence, Kansas.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to develop new applications of our patented next generation antibodies called nanoCLAMPs, as well as other single domain scaffolds. Projects will require expertise in general molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Specific procedures may include the generation of DNA constructs, protein purification, cell culture, analysis of protein-protein interactions, immunofluorescence, and phage and yeast display. This position will require a driven and creative self-reliant scientist that is comfortable with a high level of scientific freedom.

JOB DUTIES

• Execute technology development projects with a high degree of independence
• Lead the preparation of publications and/or presentations describing successful projects
• Lead and assist in the preparation of grant proposals
• Support laboratory operations, e.g. maintaining tissue culture lines, ensuring adequate laboratory supplies, and performing other routine laboratory duties

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or equivalent
• Experience preparing expression constructs and purifying proteins
• Fluency in English

Preferred

• At least 2 years of previous post-doctoral or comparable industry experience
• Experience developing single domain antibodies
• Expertise with protein purification, protein engineering, and characterizing protein-protein interactions
