South Central Regional Medical Center is Hiring an ECHO TECH Near Laurel, MS

Full Time, Varied

Uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound), and other noninvasive echocardiography testing equipment, to produce images of the heart. These procedures require specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population. Echo Techs may specialize in Adult Echocardiograph, Pediatric Echocardiography or Fetal Echocardiography.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum EducationGraduate of an accredited school of cardiac ultrasound (or) nationally credentialed ultrasound (or) OJT with two years of experience and proven skills in cardiac ultrasound and related fields.

Preferred Certification and/or Registry

Required LicensesCardiovascular Technologist and Technician
Preferred Certification and/or Registry in EEGBLS

Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reads journals and reference books to maintain continuing education.

Attends department meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides patients with a complete explanation of procedures or treatments

Maximizes patient's comfort, safety and provides effective communication

Evaluate patients through interview with patient or family obtaining oral history, review of chart and correct patient identification

Performs procedures according to protocols

Ability to identify normal/abnormal heart function. Adjust testing procedure accordingly.

Demonstrates correct usage of equipmentVerify machine functionFollows correct procedure for reporting equipment malfunctions

Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment according to manufacture and Infection Control Policies

Documents, archives and charges for all diagnostic procedures within the hospital computer system and all documentation and charges meets current standards and policies

Promotes positive teamwork within the Neurology and Cardiology department

Provides effective communication with physician

On Call consultation and/or necessary call back for patient adjustment of diagnostic testing and set up

Participates in sharing of knowledge and expertise through in-service, staff meetings, and assisting as preceptor with orientation of any new personnel and/or fellow personnel

Continues education and/or registration by participating in education classes, conferences and technical meetings

Demonstrates/verbalizes appropriate response during emergencies
