Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care is Hiring an Accountant Near Lancaster, OH

Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 an hour

Job Type: Full-time # People to Hire for this job: 1

Schedule: 8 hr. shift DAYS; 40 hrs./wk. (Monday - Friday)


FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Home of The Pickering House is seeking an Accountant to maintain the general ledger and ensure that the financial system is accurate, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and governmental regulations. We believe in a professional team approach to promote the philosophy of palliative and hospice care concept.

This position works in collaboration with the Director of Finance, Finance and department leaders to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data and the General Ledger.

The qualified candidate must demonstrate strong communication and social interaction skills, as well as, possess the ability to analyze and implement proper action is essential. Extensive experience and skill level in Microsoft Excel required. Must be knowledgeable and proficient in Microsoft Office and have previous accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with department leaders to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data and the General Ledger. Distributes monthly department reports.
  • Posts General Ledger entries, including cash receipts/disbursements, accruals, payroll, depreciation, etc. Reconciles the General Ledger with the A/R Subsidiary Ledger and A/P Subsidiary Ledger; performs month-end general ledger closing.
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and month-end reconciliation of pledges receivable.
  • Maintains designated fund accounts and prepares monthly reports.
  • Reconciles fixed assets and posts depreciation, and prepaid expense and post amortization.
  • Creates reports, statistics, analysis, etc., as needed by the Finance Department as well as other departments. Prepares annual reports for audit, 401k, etc.
  • Prepares presentations for management and board meetings as needed.
  • Various special projects as needed.
  • Assists with gathering requested documentation for annual external financial audit.
  • Remains HIPAA compliant at all times.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Three plus years of experience in the accounting field.
  • Computer skills required. Extensive knowledge with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, good driving record and auto accident insurance at a level acceptable to FAIRHOPE and/or FAIRHOPE’s insurer.
  • Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
  • Physical Setting: In-office environment. Driving may be required.
  • Work Location: Service area coverage throughout Fairfield, Hocking, Perry and surrounding counties. Main office location is located in Lancaster, Ohio.
