SummarySchool psychologists/social workers support student learning, social development, and mental/behavioral health using problem solving, assessment, and data based decision making, through the delivery of evidenced based individual, group, and school wide interventions. Working within the framework of multi-tiered systems of support, school psychologists/social workers collaborate and consult with fellow educators, school administration, families, and community professionals to help create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students.
Responsibilities
  • Utilize varied models and methods of data collection to identify the strengths and needs of individual students and those of the broader school community, developing effective services and programs to meet those needs, and evaluation systems to measure progress and outcomes.
  • Consult and collaborate with colleagues, students, families, and other stakeholders to promote the effective implementation of services. Use assessment and data collection methods to implement and evaluate services that support learning and academic achievement.
  • Use assessment and data collection methods to implement and evaluate services and programs that support social skill development, learning, and mental and behavioral health, through individual and group counseling, as well as school-wide training.
  • Develop and implement practices and strategies to create and maintain effective, safe, and supportive learning environments and school climate for all students, including positive behavior intervention and supports.
  • Promote services that enhance access to learning, mental and behavioral health, safety, and physical well being, through the development of protective and adaptive factors, including implementing effective crisis preparation, response, and recovery services.
  • Implement and evaluate services that are responsive to unique culture and family context, which engage family, school, and community partnerships in order to enhance academic, social, and behavioral outcomes.
  • Provide professional services that promote effective functioning for individuals, families, and schools with diverse characteristics, cultures, and backgrounds, and across multiple contexts, recognizing that understanding and respecting diversity in development and learning, and advocacy for social justice, are foundations for all aspects of service delivery.
  • Evaluate and apply research as a foundation of service delivery, and in collaboration with others, use varied techniques and technological resources for data collection, measurement, and analysis to support effective practices at the individual, group, school, and district level.
  • Provide services and supports that are consistent with legal and professional standards, engage in responsive ethical and professional decision making, demonstrate the ability to collaborate with other professionals, and apply the work characteristics needed for effective practice, including respect for human diversity and social justice, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and dependability.
  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers and other related or special service providers to assess student needs and barriers to learning, write evaluation reports, assist with determining eligibility for special education services, and identify the appropriate supports needed to enhance learning and student outcomes, including attending IEP meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
RequiredQualifications:
  • Currently hold a CDE Special Services Provider license or have licensure application in process with School Social Worker or School Psychologist endorsement (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certificate.
  • Appropriate training, academic, technological and experiential background for the position.
  • Flexibility and positive member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Competency with a variety of formal and informal assessments.
  • Work well with time pressures and other stressors.
  • Crisis intervention skills.
Salary InformationSalary Placement varies according to experience and education.
BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education.
