The State of New Hampshire, Employment Security, Field Unit, has a full-time vacancy for a Field Auditor.
SUMMARY : Performs a wide variety of investigative and analytical job functions, for the Department of Employment Security. Determines employers’ tax liability to the Unemployment Compensation (UC) Program, collects reports and funds due.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education : Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with courses in business administration, accounting or public administration or related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Clears blocked claims by investigating unregistered employers and/or unreported earnings. Determines and establishes wage credits for assignment to proper state and prompt payment of unemployment compensation claims.
Schedules and performs complex tax and wage audits to verify the accuracy of employer tax and wage reports and determine the employer’s compliance under the New Hampshire Unemployment Compensation Law. Corrects and adjusts improperly reported wages. Writes detailed audit reports to support and document audit findings that comply with the Federal Tax Performance Standards.
Adjudicates employer tax liabilities for the state’s Unemployment Compensation program to ensure timely receipt of employer taxes into the state’s Unemployment Trust Fund and protect the integrity of the UC program.
Collects past due money and tax & wage reports through established administrative, legal, and progressive collection procedures, to prevent abuse and circumvention of the UC compensation system.
Provides expertise and technical assistance to employers and their legal and professional representatives so that they may properly determine liability under the state statute.
Attends and provides testimony at Appeal and Administrative Hearings and may represent the Department at court hearings.
Interacts with representatives of local, state and federal agencies in New Hampshire and all other states to exchange information and comply with interstate and/or inter-agency agreements.
Provides expertise and technical assistance to NHES Local Office staff and partner agencies located at the NHES Local Office.
Assists with coordination and presentation of in-house Employer seminars, participates in agency-sponsored state and federal employment tax seminars, and may assist with training and mentoring of new staff in the Field Unit as required by the Tax Unit Supervisor.
Serves “in hand” subpoenas, jeopardy assessments, demands and tax warrants and other documents as required.
