CEI Inspector

Summary of Position:

This is a CEI field position which works under supervision of the CEI Senior Inspector/Project Administrator and receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems. This position is for the Collier/Lee/Charlotte/Hendry/Glades/Polk/Okeechobee/Highlands/Desoto/Manatee/Sarasota Counties of Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Makes and checks computations required for CEI inspection/documentation of construction work.
• Inspects construction work for adherence to Construction Plans and Specifications.
• Experienced in asphalt paving, concrete placement, and earthwork. Conducts field materials & testing.
• Coordinate with Contractor field personnel during progression of construction work.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
• Exercise judgement where appropriate on the performance and acceptance of construction work and escalate issues to Senior Inspector when appropriate.
• FDOT and/or Quality Control (QC) Experience preferred.

Minimum Preferred:

• Nuclear Radiation Safety
• CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
• CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
• CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
• FDOT Intermediate MOT
• ACI Concrete Level I

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent or 2 years of experience in construction inspection (CEI), two years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.

Working Conditions:

This position entails mostly field work with some inside office work.
