The Assistant Warehouse Manager Assists the Warehouse Manager who oversees the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods. They ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.

The Warehouse manager plans the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organizes special requirements for certain stock, such as chilled goods or fragile products.

The Warehouse manager ensures productivity targets are met for both Receiving and Shipping.

The Warehouse manager manages teams of workers and deal with personnel issues such as the recruitment, training and discipline of staff.

Typical work activities include:

• Motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met;

• training staff and monitoring their performance and progress;

• communicating with other departments, staff groups and customers;

• overseeing stock control and processing orders;

• ensuring quality and delivery objectives are met;

• responding to and dealing with customer communication by email, fax and telephone;

• producing regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;

• Briefing team leaders on the issues for that particular day;

• ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment;

• Overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.

Requirements:

· Physically able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move/push/pull/lift items weighing from 1 lbs to 80 lbs

· Qualified applicant must have reliable transportation

· 5 - 6 day work week, available on weekends, and holidays

· Ability to obtain our company equipment Certification

· Able to pre-employment and random drug screening

· Able to read, with at a high school or GED level

· Able to follow oral and written direction

· Work in environments which include concrete floors and a variety of temperatures ranging -12° F in the freezer to 100°F and high humidity in chilled areas, to ambient non-air conditioned warehouse areas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
