Job Description:
MedQuest College is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Adjunct Faculty member to teach clinicals in our Practical Nursing Program. Clinical activities include clinical lab, on-ground and virtual simulation activities, and on-site facility clinical. Faculty provide academic advising to students, assist the program director, and participate in department training, meetings, and graduation.

This position is expected to report to work on Fridays only from 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

General Scope of Responsibilities:

• Responsible to support/facilitate student learning in the lab and clinical setting.
• Assists with development of annual goals for program improvement; revisions and updates to program curriculum using current evidence-based material; reviews all student policies and revises policies related to admission, progression, graduation, standardized testing, and remediation.
• Practice excellence in teaching and instruction.
• Demonstrates evidence of professional growth and academic currency.
• Carries out the responsibilities specific to his/her area, department and/or program.
• Contributes to the college community through participation in service activities.
• Contributes to the local community by participation in service activities.
• Clinical Administrative Duties
• Implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system and profession.
• Knowledge of nursing skills; lab equipment, teaching and instruction methods and practices; record keeping procedures.
• In conjunction with lead faculty, supervises and evaluate students and faculty in the clinical and lab settings; communicates effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted while performing assigned duties.
• Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.
• Plans clinical experiences for and provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individuals.
• Maintains a healthy, safe, and secure clinical and lab environment.
• Evaluates and provides documented feedback to the student on the level of performance based on course objectives.
• Orients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnel.
• Develops and posts written clinical assignments consistent with the student's knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
• Grades homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork and other written work in a timely manner.
• Keeps didactic faculty and the Nursing Administrator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.

Requirements:

• Current Unencumbered license to work in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• Associate’s in Nursing degree required, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
• At least two years of experience in the field of Nursing required.
• Experience in clinical area of expertise required.
• Experience must be within the last five years.
