Actalent is Hiring an Environmental Technician (Conservation/Part Time) Near Kula, HI

Actalent is in search of a candidate who is interested in a conversation based position located in Kula, HI. This is a welcoming position where the prospective candidate will learn with the team.

Primary Scope: 

Auwahi Wind consists of (8) 3 MW wind turbines, an 11 MW Battery Energy Storage System, a substation, and other energy facility equipment. The environmental personnel manage multiple mitigation sites on Ulupalakua Ranch and Haleakala. The environmental technician will work with all the personnel at the wind facility, focusing mainly with the Operations and Environmental departments.

Responsibilities/Duties: 

Operations:

  • Provide support in certain daily activities such as inspections, log readings, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist with special projects.

Environmental:

  • Provide support to implement actions related to the Auwahi Wind environmental permits and mitigation sites.
  • Support monitoring efforts including Hawaiian Hoary Bat, Hawaiian Petrel, Blackburn Sphinx Moth, and Vegetation monitoring on Ulupalakua Ranch, DOFAW, and DHHL lands.
  • Conduct mitigation efforts including out-planting of native Hawaiian plant species, monitoring of native Hawaiian and non-native species, and control or removal of harmful non-native species.
  • Provide support with data entry, protocol development, and inventory control.
  • Support Ulupalakua Ranch personnel with their activities related to Auwahi Wind.

Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Native tree planting
  • Recording native species data
  • Setting insect traps in remote areas and collecting data.
  • Hiking extensively in remote areas to collect data
  • Hawaiian petrel burrow monitoring/data entry
  • Data collection for SEEF and CPT trials
  • Assisting with building safety checks

Job Specifications -

The job is at the Auwahi Wind Energy (AWE) facility.

Position is 2-3 days a week. Days are flexible on a M-F Schedule. Discussed during interview.
