Hill Valley Healthcare is Hiring a Health Information Manager Near Kingston, PA

Wyoming Valley Behavioral Hospital is setting the stage for a new beginning. Formally known as First Hospital, WVBH will be in the same building but have a fresh perspective and approach. Family friendly and staff focused will be our new mantra. Healing our patients with a combination of compassion, medication, and therapy allowing for a successful recovery and reentry into their regular routine. We are looking for a Health Information Manager who has great knowledge of hospital medical recordkeeping tasks and data entry. A great candidate should be aware of their approach and aide in developing a healing environment in a hospital setting! This person would provide leadership and healthy mentoring as needed also working within the same environment. The candidate should exhibit high standards of following administrative, ethical, and legal requirements for safeguarding patient privacy. The ideal candidate would also be familiar with Trauma Informed Care theory or working in a behavioral health setting.

Summary Performance Description: The Health Information Manager (HIM) will organize, oversee, and protect patient health information data which includes symptoms, diagnoses, medical histories, test results, and procedures. The HIM will make sure that traditional and digital medical data maintains its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security. This position serves as an essential link between physicians, patients, and third-party payers. Acts as the compliance and privacy officer for the hospital working with the QA/Risk Manager to ensure excellence.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Education And Experience:

- Associate degree or higher in business/healthcare admin/ related Field is preferred

- At least 2 years’ experience in a hospital setting is required

Certifications:

- Must hold an active Medical Record Keeping certification (RHIT or RHIA preferred).

- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

Qualifications:

- 1 year experience with medical and/or behavioral health records 

- Ability to interact with persons from diverse backgrounds and experiences

- Ability to organize and prioritize care plans efficiently 

- Leadership skills as part of a team approach 

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- An understanding of effective compliance with regulations and maintaining health records.

- Experience looking through health data for patterns, trends, and insights to support decision-making, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance.

- Experience handling requests for patient information from authorized individuals or entities while adhering to privacy laws like HIPAA.
