Director of Nursing

JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice and care given to residents by coordinating nursing and training programs, recognizing and assisting in solving administrative and supervisory problems within the facility. Promotes a culture of safety awareness. Support administrative operation by performing various duties to insure overall compliance with nursing procedures and company policies. Follow procedures, State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid Guidelines.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • RN License in the state required. -- BSN preferred
  • At least five years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long-term care facility, including geriatric and/or psychiatric nursing. Must have demonstrated a mastery of good clinical nursing skills.
  • Training in rehabilitation and restorative nursing care.
  • Ability to incorporate all aspects of nursing in total resident care plan.
  • Ability to organize, plan and supervise the nursing service departments.
  • Must have a capacity to grasp new theories and principles and implement them.
  • Must be accountable 24 hours a day.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: Directs and delegates the management of professional and ancillary nursing staff.
