Summary

The Electro-Mechanical Designer prepares design layouts, schematics, or sketches of electro-mechanical systems to satisfy system and integration requirements within cost and producibility constraints (including test plans, procedures, or specifications). This position will also review layouts, drawings, test reports, procedures, and engineering change notices for clarity and completeness. Testing and validation are essential duties for electromechanical engineers. They design products, conduct tests, and analyze data to evaluate system performance and ensure compliance with specifications and codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with other employees to develop safe electrical products/solutions
  • Receive requests for electrical solutions and work with the engineering team to develop reasonable electrical plan
  • Design electromechanical requirements at direction of engineering manager
  • Research and propose appropriate solutions and estimate the cost and time required for implementation for assigned projects
  • Design and test electrical products/solutions
  • Report and analyze data collected during testing
  • Make the necessary changes after testing
  • Evaluate the quality of the solution after completion
  • Monitor documents and send reports to management
  • Monitor electrical solutions for maintenance and upgrade if necessary
  • Update schematics and drawings to support production

  • Knowledge of basic hand tools
  • Knowledge of basic assembly
  • Understands the importance of quality control and can identify potential issues
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing procedures and processing, ability to read blueprints, thorough knowledge of office software programs SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical knowledge a plus
  • The ability to analyze, think logically and apply knowledge to solve problems related to electricity
  • The ability to create and maintain accurate documentation of product testing is required
  • High degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude, including programming of test equipment, is required
  • Must be able to perform thorough research via the internet and trade journals to answer product development questions
  • Ability to weld and use a drill press, band saw, milling machine and lathe is a plus

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate of Arts and Science (AAS) degree or equivalent experience required

The employee works in an office facility environment and may be exposed to hot temperatures in the summer months and cold temperatures during the winter months. Pay Range Model according to years of service:

Entry level pay: <4 years

Median level pay: 4 - 6 years

Top level pay: 6 years

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
