At Silver oak, we will be working with children dealing with mental health diagnosis in a Psychiatric Residental Treatment Facility.

What You’ll DoThe Special Education Teacher is responsible for planning and effectively implementing instructional programs to students requiring services outside of the public school environment that provides related academic instruction and educational services to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities; manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities, as required for either single or multi-grade level, subject, skill, or specialty oriented; manages a case load for students requiring special education service. Participates in meetings as requested, including IEP, ITP, ETP development and team planning meetings, staffing, and Teacher’s meetings, sharing information and opinions. Participates in the writing of either an Education Treatment Plans (ETP) or Individual Education Plans (IEP) and facilitates the development and implementation of therapeutic teaching strategies that correspond with the Plan.
To Be Considered, You Should

• Possess a current and valid State teaching credential. Special Education preferred.
• B.A. or B.S. Degree in the Education field from an accredited college or university
• Have related experience working with at-risk youth ages 12 - 18 years or other neurological developmental disorders.
• Possess a knowledge of:
• Instructional strategies and how they can be employed to deliver curriculum and assess student learning.
• Effective classroom management techniques and behavioral management styles that result in understanding of how to manage and teach to various learning styles.
• Effective communication techniques that enable positive and productive collaboration with site staff.
• Technology and how it can be used as an educational tool.
• Have the ability to:
• Establish a teaching rapport with students which results in student achievement in all program areas.
• Diagnose, prescribe and evaluate student progress on an ongoing basis.
• Collaborate with staff to deliver a consistent curriculum and implement a team approach to working with students.
• Confront inappropriate behavior appropriately and take the necessary action as outlined in the program procedures.
• Accept additional tasks as assigned including flexible work schedule and extracurricular assignments.
• Be able to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
