Title: Middle School Art Teacher

The Opportunity: At NCCS, we believe teaching art to middle schoolers goes beyond aesthetics. It serves as a means of nurturing students' spiritual, emotional, and cognitive growth within the framework of biblical principles. By exploring various artistic mediums, students develop critical thinking skills and empathy, deepening their understanding of God's creativity as the ultimate source of inspiration and beauty. Art also provides a platform for students to engage with theological concepts, strengthening their faith and empowering them to express their beliefs visually. Ultimately, teaching art in a Christian context encourages students to recognize the value of creativity, reflect God's image, and positively impact their world.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, art, or related field
• 3 years of teaching experience
• Passion for teaching/working with Middle School students
• Knowledge of research-based approaches to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
• Proficient use of technology in service of learning
• An relational, kingdom-focused learner with a growth mindset

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and teach a variety of Middle School art courses
• Lead/facilitate 1-2 extracurricular activities such as a club or sport
• Care and nurture for the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of each student
• Develop authentic assessments and learning outcomes as part of the Middle School team
• Collaborate with colleagues in lesson planning, weekly meetings, school-wide initiatives, and professional learning opportunities
• Execute additional faculty duties (e.g. lunch, enrichment, recess, carline) and others as assigned
