Park Hill School District is Hiring a Manager of Network and Infrastructure Near Kansas, MO

Purpose Statement
The job of Manager - Network and Infrastructure is done for the purpose/s of serving as a leader in the Department of Technology managing the District’s technology infrastructure, including but not limited to the data center (computer and storage), systems administration, e-mail and messaging, voice/data, cybersecurity, cabling systems, physical security and audio/visual systems; ensuring problems and issues related to systems, networks and application availability and stability are resolved in a timely fashion; managing projects and coordinating with other district leaders, and assisting with the development and deployment of departmental strategic goals.
This job reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
Essential Functions
  • Builds positive working relationships with team members, vendors and other departments for the purpose of working collaboratively toward department and district goals.
  • Collaborates with the Technology Communications and Training group for the purpose of communicating effectively with district staff, students and parents as well as providing training on the proper use of technology.
  • Collaborates with other district leaders (e.g. Director of Operations, Director of Safety and Security, Academic Services, etc.) for the purpose of obtaining and committing necessary resources at the appropriate time, level and expertise to support district initiatives.
  • Collects customer feedback for the purpose of monitoring effectiveness of support and to drive continuous improvmenet processes.
  • Communicates the district and department mission, vision and strategy to the Network and Infrastructure group for the purpose of ensuring department goals and activities are aligned.
  • Coordinates the integration of data, information and communication systems for the purpose of ensuring efficient and streamlined services are provided to all customers.
  • Defines the strategy and desired outcomes of the Network and Infrastructure group for the purpose of ensuring alignment to the strategic objectives of the department and district.
  • Ensures physical inventory levels of equipment and supplies are monitored and replenished as needed for the purpose of efficiently managing assets related to district technology infrastructure.
  • Leads the daily operations of all server systems, data networks and voice (telecommuncation) systems, including advanced tuning and performance of systems and network, capacity planning, systems and network configuration, network design, implementation, maintenance, physical security, cyber security and all audio visual systems for the purpose of ensuring all systems are operating at peak performance and to customer requirements.
  • Maintains excellent communication and collaboration with all for the purpose of ensuring open channels of communication and flow of information.
  • Manages the processing of end-user incidents, requests and problems within the the Network and Infrastructure group for the purpose of ensuring rapid and responsible responses.
  • Manages all data as a secure asset for the purpose of ensuring network and systems security, disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Oversees the leadership of the Network and Infrastructure group for the purpose of ensuring team and individual performance levels meet customer needs and service levels consistently.
  • Oversees a variety of department activities, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the security and reliable operations of district networks, systems and databases.
  • Ovesees logistical operations and maintenance of all district technology for the purpose of providing guidance and support to staff and ensuring completion of projects within established guidelines.
  • Partners with other department leaders to identify departmental needs and possible process improvements, communicate with staff and students regarding maintenance of technology, etc. for the purpose of implementing and maintaining district technology plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares a variety of materials (e.g. procedures, system level documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Provides management direction and leadership for new systems development and implementation for the purpose of ensuring quality and innovative solutions are successfully deployed to meet customer needs.
  • Researches and implements preventative maintenance procedures for the purpose of proactively maintaining district technology infrastructure and systems.
  • Researches applications, vendors, consultants and emerging technology for the purpose of recommending products that meet district requirements for capability and cost.
  • Reviews opportunities for improvement within own practice and those within the assigned area of responsibility for the purpose of ensuring personal and departmental excellence.
  • Serves as an active participant in the Department of Technology leadership team for the purpose of contributing to the strategy, vision and direction of the department.
  • Serves as internal project manager for large scale Network and Infrastructure group for the purpose of deploying innovative and successful solutions.
  • Supervises assigned staff members, plans and delegates work, and provides for continual development of employees for the purpose of ensuring the highest potential is achieved.
  • Utilizes appropriate project management tools, processes and procedures for the purpose of effectively leading and managing projects.
Other Functions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge And AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: strong leadership and management skills, demonstrated customer service skills, excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication, strong project management skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: knowledge of current practices and technologies, including but not limited to network administration, systems administration, telecommunications administration, technical client services administration, communication and application deployment. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of VoIP systems, phone systems, server administration, server virtualization, storage virtualization, complex corporate-type networks, cyber security, physical security and audio visual systems. Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management tools is preferred.

Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: being attentive to detail; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; communicating with persons of diverse technical knowledge and skills’ maintaining confidentiality; analyzing situations; defining issues; drawing conclusions; setting priorities; and working with frequent interruptions. Ability to keep current on developing technologies and potential impact on district operations. Ability to relate to people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership. Ability to manage financial, material, and human resources effectively. Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate program goals and initiatives.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational policies to achieve organizational objectives; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; supervising the use of funds. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
