Job Description

REPORTS TO

The Assistant Controller reports to the VP, Controller in the Finance & Accounting department. 

What will you be responsible for as part of this role?

  • Lead team to achieve departmental goals by providing direction, coaching, and timely performance feedback; support team training, career development planning, and provide work assignments with growing levels of responsibility. 

  • Manage the financial close process, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, including related footnotes and required disclosures for quarterly debt compliance and annual audit reporting requirements.

  • Perform analysis of financial statements, detailed financial schedules, key performance indicators, and budget vs. actual. 

  • Lead and manage the external audit process.

  • Develop, monitor, and document internal controls.

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis and reconciliation of consolidated financial statements and detailed financial schedules

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial and KPI packages that are presented to and reviewed by the executive team and board of directors on a monthly basis. 

  • Own and incorporate financial information into a monthly debt compliance package to support the company’s debt facility.

  • Conduct accounting for equity awards and transactions, including 3rd party valuations.

  • Maintain process to capitalize internal software development costs and preparation of technical accounting analysis to support conclusion, including approval by external auditors. 

  • Further the design and management of internal control frameworks, including system controls within the company's ERP.

  • Maintain ownership over all technical accounting analysis to ensure compliance with GAAP, including documentation and review by external auditors

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Who are you?

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Advanced understanding and application of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.

  • Strong accounting and financial analysis expertise and fluency in analyzing data

  • Ability to define problems and make recommendations which support the strategic direction of the organization

  • Ability to multi-task and to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

  • Proven ability to develop and motivate staff

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work collaboratively and independently

  • Solid verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Minimum of five years in an Accounting and/or Finance Department with at least two years prior experience serving in a team lead and/or management role

  • Workday ERP system experience

  • CPA with Big 4 public accounting experience

  • System implementation experience

Additional Information

Salary Range: 

$130,000-$150,000

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
